A small software company that answers the phone
Battle Line Productions is a software studio in Metro Detroit. We keep the team as small as the work allows and bring in more senior hands when a project calls for them.
The company started the way most small software companies do. A client needed something built, then another one did, and the side work turned into the main work.
Along the way we started building products of our own, because the same problems kept turning up in every business we worked with. Quotes on paper. Invoices in a spreadsheet. Email that nobody could prove had been delivered.
Today there are three things we do. We run two products, MySmallBusiness and CommuniQueue. We build websites for small businesses that need to be found and called. And we take contract engineering work when a team needs a senior pair of hands for a few months.
The engineers who scope your project are the engineers who write the code and pick up the phone when something breaks. Nothing gets handed to an account manager, and nothing gets passed to a team you never meet.
The founder
Michael Cavanaugh
Michael has spent his career building backend systems and the cloud infrastructure underneath them, mostly in .NET and AWS.
He started Battle Line Productions to do that work directly for the businesses that need it, without a layer of process in between. He is based in Metro Detroit, Michigan, and works with clients anywhere in the United States.
How we work
Three things we hold to
A price before the work
You get a written scope and a number before anything starts. If the scope changes, we agree the change before we build it.
Plain language
You should never need a glossary to understand what you are paying for. If an explanation needs jargon, the explanation is wrong.
You own what we build
The code, the domain, the accounts, the data. All of it is yours, and you can take it elsewhere whenever you like.
